2011 CONVENTION UPDATE

 

Arrangements for the annual Convention and Show to be held on June 10-11, 2011 are almost finalized.  Here is the latest information:

 

In a small attempt to compensate  for the high gas prices, the Club is furnishing free of charge the first two tables for any members in good standing wishing to sell at the show.  There will be a charge of $15.00 for any additional tables.   The show will open at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 10th  for members only.  We will open for the public on Saturday, June 121th  at 9:00 A.M..  We must be advised of the number of desired tables no later than June 1st, 2011. 

 

Join your other club members for lunch on Friday and the meeting/banquet Friday evening.  Lunch is $10.00 per person and the banquet dinner is $21.00 per person.  The menu is as follows:

 

Lunch:              Sandwich Buffet.  Includes three meats, two cheeses, condiments,

Lettuce, tomatoes, ####orted breads and rolls, soup du jour, potato salad,

Broccoli peanut salad,  dessert and  beverages.

 

Dinner:             Roast Beef and Crusted Parmesan Chicken Breasts; roasted  red

Potatoes and twice baked potatoes; sugar snap peas and Normandy

Blend (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots); garden salad, rolls, dessert and

Beverage.

            PS   WESTMORELAND GLASS AUCTION

 

Gene Gornik has announced that there will indeed be an auction after the Westmoreland Glass Show, consisting of a large collection of 500+ pieces of Westmoreland Glass..  The auction will be held on Saturday, June 11th, 2011 at the New Stanton Fire Hall, New Stanton, PA., beginning at 6i:00 P.M.

Other events for the weekend include the monthly antique show at Hannastown and Antiques on the Diamond in Ligonier.. 

 


NWGCC News : New meeting place at Persichetti's restaurant.

The National Westmoreland Glass Collectors Club meetings are held at the Persichetti's Restaurant, 101 South 3th Street, Jeannette PA, Phone 724-527-5553, at 7:00 PM on the Second Tuesday of each month. Join us at 6 PM and enjoy a meal and/or dessert, along with good conversation. Meetings are followed by a show-and-tell period, in which we seek to become more informed about this remarkable glassware.

Note: Meetings are no longer held at the Pitzer's Townhouse Restaurant.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the regular monthly meeting of the N.W.G.C.C. has been changed to the third Tuesday of each month at Persichetti's Restaurant, N. Fourth Street, Jeannette, PA. at 7:00 P.M. If desired, a tasty meal can be purchased before the meeting. Hope to see you there.

In 1889 a group of investors took the risk of founding a glass company - it became the Westmoreland Glass Company of Grapeville, Pennsylvania and had a successful history that spanned nearly 100 years. These intrepid individuals did more than start a glass factory - they touched all our lives by giving us the beautiful handmade glassware we collect and cherish today.
